D.M. Cresswell writes a press release in which he describes the arrival of the first sixty-nine students, the origins of the Farmers' High School of Pennsylvania under the impetus of the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Society, the passage of the Morrill Land Grant College Act on 2 July 1862, Pennsylvania's designation of the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania as the land grant college, and the current (1929) size and appropriations for Pennsylvania State College.
